Pierre Vimont, Visiting Professor at the European Institute, was awarded the “Top Five” award by the Dean of the School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA) for his course on “Diplomacy in Practice - the EU & the World.” Based on student evaluations, Pierre Vimont’s course and teaching ranked in the top five out of nearly 200 courses taught at SIPA in the spring 2017 semester.

Ambassador Pierre Vimont is a Senior Fellow at Carnegie Europe, and was the first Executive Secretary General of the newly-created European External Action Service (the European Union’s diplomatic service), from 2010 to 2015. Before that, he was the French Ambassador to the United States, and also served as the Permanent Representative of France to the European Union and as the chief of staff of the French Foreign minister.

Pierre Vimont is coming back to the European Institute and SIPA in the spring 2018 semester, and will teach this year a full-semester version of his seminar: “Diplomacy in Practice - the EU & the World.”
