Good Academic Standing

All students must maintain good academic standing to remain in the European History, Politics, and Society program.

Requirements for good standing include:

  • Maintaining a Grade Point Average of 3.2 or higher in every semester
  • Resolving all Incomplete grades no later than 30 days after the end of exams (with the exception of the thesis course)
  • Making steady progress toward creating a disciplinary concentration and meeting requirements for the geographical distribution of courses
  • Identifying a thesis topic and a member of the faculty willing to serve as your advisor

Policy on Incompletes

Unless they receive explicit permission from the MA Faculty Advisor, students must submit to the instructor all work to resolve grades of Incomplete no later than 30 days after the end of exams for the semester in question. This policy supersedes that of the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences (with the exception of the thesis course).

Continuous enrollment

Students must maintain continuous enrollment unless the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences grants a leave of absence. Students must complete all requirements for the degree within five years.
