Interview with Sarah Roth, MA Student

July 20, 2017

Featured in this video interview: Sarah Roth, MA in European History, Politics, and Society candidate and a Cold War Archival Research (CWAR) Fellow. She discusses "Operation Focus," a propaganda leaflet campaign conducted by Radio Free Europe in Hungary in the early 1950s.

The European Institute’s Cold War Archival Research Fellowship offers to selected Columbia students the opportunity to conduct original research on the history of Radio Free Europe at archives in the US and in Europe (College Park, MD; Budapest, Hungary; Stanford University, CA; Abilene, KS). After the conclusion of each research session, the students work on research papers to be presented at a conference at Columbia in the Spring semester. The project was created in 2015 under the name "Radio Free Europe Research Project" and was renamed in 2017 to the "Cold War Archival Research Project".
